This Gallery of Patio Construction Pictures runs from the end result to the beginning. The farther back (in scrolling down the images) the earlier you get in the construction process. Some people really only want to see the done part of the project anyway and this will deal with that first. If you are interested in seeing the previous 48 hours just keep scrolling down the page. If you want to watch from the beginning scroll down to the bottom and work your way up. If you are going to do this give it some time until all of the pictures load.
More pictures will be added as the wall takes shape and comes to a conclusion as well as the landscaping over the coming months.
If you want to view larger images and have a fast internet connection you can try the next gallery. It is a duplicate of this with larger images.
There is still a lot left to do. In about 6 weeks we will be staining the concrete with an acid etching color stain and turning it the color of the lighter stones on the house. We have already seen the effect of the trees on the patio with lots of tree pieces falling and leaving marks on the surface. Just adds character. :-)
After the stain we will be moving lots of dirt into the area to bring the level of the ground up to the level of the patio and walks. Almost all of the exposed edges you see now will eventually be flush with the grass growing up to them. This will be really noticeable at the front of the patio and in the side yard between the side of the house and the barn. We figure on moving in somewhere around 40 to 50 yards of topsoil in order to do this.
The retaining wall at the corner of the patio is being faced with a pointed stone wall made from the stone we pulled from the wall that used to go across the front of the house between the two big maples.
Hope you enjoy the pictures.

Now that the wall is done and the concrete
has cured for the required period the staining of the patio can begin. More
pictures will be added as that process is completed. Stay tuned.
The pictures below were taken on 8/8/2007
and inserted. The wall is now complete and we estimate that there
is about 5 or 6 tons of stone, concrete and slate involved total. We are extremely pleased with the result.
These pictures were taken on 7/11/2007 and
inserted below. Jerry is working on the final stages of the wall.
He will be coming back later to put the Blue Stone (slate) top on the wall later. What a beautiful job.
The pictures of the WALL were taken 7/8/07 and inserted below.
The rest of the pictures were taken on:
7/4/07 (all concrete poured and useable) Susan and Tasha on the patio.
7/3/07 (pouring the walks)
